A Warmer Future: Jackie’s Story

30th September 2025
Betty Whiteside

For over two decades, Betty Whiteside has called her house in Thornton-Cleveleys home. But with ageing metal-frame windows and a draughty front door, the winters often felt colder than they should.

“I wasn’t sure when I first got the letter from the council,” Betty admits. “I thought, is this real? I asked my daughter and son-in-law and they reassured me it was genuine, so I made some enquiries.”

That decision would change her daily comfort.

Through Cosy Homes in Lancashire, Betty was able to have new windows and doors fitted. The difference, she says, has been remarkable.

“Before, the windows were always covered in condensation, and the house was quite cold. The new windows and the front door have made a heck of a difference.”

Betty speaks warmly not just about the improvements, but about the people who carried out the work.

“The contractors were absolutely amazing. Very well-mannered, polite, clean and tidy. I even got food in for them at lunchtime, but they brought their own, so I just made plenty of brews. They were happy with that.”

Now, with a warmer home and the reassurance of quality workmanship, Betty feels truly grateful.

“I’m so thankful for the work that’s been done. If anyone asked me about Cosy Homes, I’d definitely recommend them. It’s a wonderful scheme.”
