ECO funding

Energy Company Obligation (ECO)

The Energy Company Obligation (ECO) is a government scheme designed to improve energy efficiency in homes where residents are on low incomes or are vulnerable to the cold.

To Qualify for ECO funding:
  • Your property needs to have an EPC Rating of D, E, F or G.
  • Your property needs to be privately owned
  • At least one person living in the property must receive means tested benefits.

Energy suppliers are responsible for delivering ECO. They hire installers to carry out the work in eligible homes. Installers often contact households directly through social media, leaflets, phone calls, or door‑to‑door visits. Some improvements may be provided free of charge, while in other cases households may be asked to contribute.

All ECO installers must follow the customer service and quality standards set by Trustmark, the government‑approved quality scheme. Cosy Homes in Lancashire does not provide ECO funding and has no authority to monitor the quality of ECO works.
