A Warmer Future: Jackie’s Story

Barbara

After nearly five decades in Bolton, Barbara made the move to Blackpool two years ago. Settling into a new home meant new routines, but also new challenges. Cold draughts and wasted energy quickly became a daily frustration.

“I first heard about Cosy Homes through Green Doctors who came to church,” Barbara recalls. “They were helping us with some energy advice, and that’s when I was recommended to the Little Van of Warm.”

That recommendation turned out to be a turning point.

Chris, from the Little Van of Warm team, visited Barbara’s home and carried out a range of simple but effective improvements.

“He put foil behind my radiators, a balloon up the chimney to stop the wind coming down, and fitted some energy-saving bulbs. He even put new switches on the lights so I can just press one button and everything goes off at night.”

For Barbara, the impact was immediate.

“There was a gale-force wind coming down my chimney before, and the balloon stopped all that during the storms. The foil is really good quality and it’s warmed up all the rooms. It’s made a big difference.”

What stood out most wasn’t just the work, but the way it was done.

“I felt very comfortable with Chris. He was caring, very interested, and he put things in place that really helped me. He’s very good at what he does and I’d recommend him to anybody.”

Barbara now enjoys a warmer, more efficient home and feels reassured that support is only a phone call away.

“Anyone that needs help should get in touch with Cosy Homes and ask for Chris. He’ll make you feel comfortable, he’s very helpful, and he can even recommend other services that might help you in the future.”
