Fuel Poverty Statistics 2025

Recent data produced by the Government highlights a problem that has to be understood and tackled with the vigour it deserves. The Health Foundation expresses the importance of a warm home as children growing up in a warm cold and damp home are twice as likely to suffer from respiratory conditions compared to those brought up in a warm property. According to National Energy Action fuel poverty costs the NHS approximately £1.3 billion per year.
The Fuel Poverty Strategy Consultation in February confirmed that only 700,000 have been taken out of fuel poverty since 2014. Fuel Poverty is measured as low Income low energy efficiency (LILEE). The above graph has been produced from fuel poverty data produced by the Government on the 30th April 2025. Blackpool has the worst fuel poverty (17.1%) with South Ribble as the lowest (8.7%).
Installing energy efficiency measure and embracing technology will reduce household bills, keeping homes warmer, as we aim to dent fuel poverty across Lancashire.
